Board of Governors

The Board of Governors are a representative body of men and women from both the business world and the mission field. Together, they bring to Redcliffe a significant wealth of skills, experience and theological understanding.

As a body, they are responsible for the legal and financial aspects of the college, as well as its overall direction, management and theological balance.
 

Alan Edwards - Governor since 2001. Alan is a partner in Mazars, Chartered Accountants and is based in Bristol. His particular interest is the charity sector. He attends Holy Trinity Church in Nailsea where he and his wife, Mary, head up the Marriage Preparation and Support ministry. They have four daughters.

Andrew Johnson - Governor since 2004. Married to Becky, they have two children and the family live in Headington, Oxford. Formerly Western Teams Co-ordinator with IFES, Andrew is now International Resource Developer with Latin Link. Andrew is fluent in Portuguese and also speaks Spanish, French and a little Italian. He enjoys all types of sport, DIY, photography, reading, travelling and also plays the French horn.

Jo Jowett - Jo has been on the Board of Governors since 2006. Originally from Belfast, she has previously made her home in Southern Kenya and London and now lives in Staffordshire with her husband Mark. Her work is based in the West Midlands where she is Associate Director for Christian Vocations, a UK agency that offers vocational guidance for Christians and helps channel people of all ages into various forms of Christian work around the world. She is trying to get to grips with golf, enjoys eating out and through her husband's influence is also a student of football and cricket!

Marion Knell (Deputy Chair) - Governor since 2004. A trained teacher, Marion became involved in the care of missionary families while working for Arab World Ministries. She heads up the Global Connections forum on Third Culture Kids, and lectures on the subject at UK Bible Colleges and International Conferences. Marion also coordinates the European Member Care Network and is a Justice of the Peace.  Her book, 'Families on the Move' was published in 2001.

Tim Lewis - became Company Secretary in 1996, having first joined the Redcliffe staff in 1994. Married to Christine, Redcliffe's Crèche Supervisor, they have four grown-up children. Tim is an Elder at Hillview Church and enjoys watching football and rugby - particularly Wales.

John Henry Lonie (Chairman) - Governor since 2002 and Chair since 2005. He is the Managing Director of Sustainable Direction Ltd; a sustainability focused environmental consultancy, helping companies and organisations become more sustainable and improve their financial performance in the process. He is originally from the USA, but lives permanently in the UK as a Dual National, and is married to Hilary with two adult children. He lives in Maisemore near Gloucester and is active in village and Church life and enjoys tennis, as well as watching cricket and rugby. 

Pam McKellen - Governor since 2004. Pam is an Anglican priest and is presently vicar of Radley with Sunningwell, two parishes in South Oxfordshire. Originally trained as a teacher, Pam worked for many years on the Senior Staff team of Crusaders, before working on the Senior Staff team of UCCF. She also undertook consultancy work with various charities and organisations, in particular analysing and evaluating projects and looking at strategic planning.

Ruth Millson - Governor since 1998. Ruth is Personnel Director of Interserve. She has a background of teaching, both in the UK and overseas, particularly in India, where she taught theology to degree level. Ruth is a member of St Stephen's church, West Ealing where she is deputy churchwarden. Ruth enjoys walking and travel in her spare time and says that her delightful golden Labrador (a rescue dog) keeps her fit!!

Gerard Sloggett - the current longest serving member of the governing body, Gerard has been Governor since 1994. He has been involved in the building construction, property development and investment industry all his working life and to some extent still is. After many years in Canterbury, Gerard moved back to London where he attends Duke Street Church in Richmond. Married to Gill, they have four children and nine grandchildren.

Carol Walker - Governor since March 2007. Carol divides her time between comparative research of narrative in the Bible and the Qur'an, and being a consultant and teacher. She draws on over twenty years of service with Interserve first in Pakistan, then the Middle East, and finally seconded to the CMS Training College in Selly Oak. From 2004-2007 she was responsible for setting up new practices and approaches in the preparation of CMS mission personnel. Carol loves walking and gardening. When not winding down with friends or providing care for her mother, she enjoys art to view and crafts to do. Carol also keeps an eye on the mixed fortunes of the England cricket team.

Peter Whitfield - Governor since 2002. His background is in marketing, and IT technical support and consultancy gained with Unisys, a multi-national computer vendor. Peter is particularly interested in strategic planning and in Business as Mission and other workplace ministries. He is on the management team of Listening Post Christian Counselling Centre and is treasurer of Stroud Baptist Church. He is married to Doni and they live in Uley, south of Stroud, with their daughter.

John Wibberley - Governor since 1998. He is married to Jane and describes himself as a countryside/boating grandfather and agricultural Professor, also qualified in theology, who worships at his local Anglican church. With much international and interdenominational experience, John belongs to an otherwise all-African Mission Team (RURCON) and is currently Chairman of the UK Farm Crisis Network. He now lives in Devon, having moved there from the Isle of Wight.

Fiona Wilson - Governor since 2003. Fiona is International Co-ordinator for Integral, a network of worldwide relief and development agencies, having until recently been a Research Assistant with Tearfund. She previously worked as an inner city teacher and also spent 3 years in Bolivia with Latin Link. Fiona attends St James the Less Church in Pimlico.
