 Jo Butler New Student Coordinator
Jo is the main point of contact for new students, keeping in regular contact from acceptance until their arrival at College. She also carries out a variety of duties in the main office. This is no mean feat and includes acting as receptionist, telephonist, tea-maker, mail sorter and being ready to answer any queries about anything and everything.
Jo originally trained as a nurse and worked mainly in the operating theatre. She is married to Michael, a Vicar, now retired from parish ministry. They have two married daughters and three grandchildren. They live just round the corner from the college and love having staff and students visiting for meals or a chat.
Jo and Michael have worked in Parishes in South London, Kent and Gloucester and were also in Sierra Leone for 4 years with CMS.
Jo has been ‘in retirement’ for less than year and is still getting used to the freedom to choose how and where to spend her time. She finds her involvement with Redcliffe a fulfilling one, and in particular enjoys the job of taking student photographs at the start of the academic year, which enables her to get to know each one as they arrive.
In February 2005 Jo and Michael went to Uganda to visit three Redcliffe graduates who have returned to their own country to work. They had a most rewarding time and were encouraged to see how the former students have taken to heart the title of ‘Strategic Leaders’ and are making a real difference to the lives of their fellow Ugandans.
