 Mission UK
The diversity of UK society today means you probably don't have to go further than the end of your street to engage in cross-cultural mission! While many of our students are preparing to live and work abroad, many more come to Redcliffe wanting to discover how they can be part of God's mission in the UK.
Our community of students from over 30 countries provides a unique opportunity to discover and relate to cultures other than your own. The experience of listening to others' perspectives also becomes an essential part of your learning experience.
Many of our six-week mission placements are UK-based and recent UK mission placements have included working with the homeless in Gloucester, an airport chaplain in the Midlands, or Asians in London and Birmingham. In addition the weekly placements undertaken by undergraduate and Professionals in Mission students are based in and around Gloucester.
Of course, you don't have to study full-time at Redcliffe to benefit! Through our partnerships with UK-based agencies such as Scripture Union, CPAS, Youth for Christ, the John Ray Initiative and Global Connections, we offer a wide range of courses and conferences that are open to all. Day students are also welcome to join in level I and II subjects – an opportunity to learn alongside the unique community that is Redcliffe College.
"Redcliffe has helped prepare me for UK mission! It's given me a unique opportunity to communicate and interact with other cultures, increasing my effectiveness as a youth leader in a multi-cultural area. The close and friendly community has helped me understand British culture - and so helped me learn more about myself! My training has been vital to my Christian mission, not just in reaching out to others, but also with my own relationship with God." (Hannah, former student)
