Building for mission: resourcing the vision
Redcliffe's Building for Mission programme will facilitate the building programme needed to fulfil our vision to resource the changing needs of mission.
We envisage three phases to Building for Mission, with an estimated total cost of £2.5 million.
Phase 1 – Resource Centre and Library. Target: £1.9 million This will provide a Resource Centre with state-of-the-art facilities, a further seminar room for 50 people, additional office space, as well as room for 35,000 books and periodicals. It will also provide 27 study spaces alongside the library rooms. As funds become available, this phase will begin in 2008 with completion within 12 months of commencement, costing in the region of £1.9 million.
Phase 2 – Student Accommodation. Target: £350,000 This will include adding common room areas on each floor, along with a small kitchen/dining area and improved laundry facilities. We will also refurbish the shower facilities and add three en-suite rooms for married couples. Rooms currently used as tutors' offices, seminar rooms and library rooms will be freed up for accommodation use as they are transferred to the new Resource Centre.
It is planned that this will take place in the summer of 2009, depending on resources being available. The cost of the refurbishment will be in the region of £350,000.
Phase 3 – Dining Room Refurbishment and Expansion. Target: £250,000 The major extension to, and refurbishment of, the dining room will enable us to comfortably seat up to 150 people at any one time, allowing us to accommodate increased student numbers and host larger external groups wishing to use the college facilities.
It is planned that this will take place in the summer of 2010, depending on resources being available. The cost of this work will be in the region of £250,000.
Together, Building for Mission will:
• Provide a much improved atmosphere for learning with state-of-the-art study facilities • Give students improved living facilities • House the increase in the number of books in the library resulting from new course development • Improve the facilities for our faculty and other staff • Give adequate dining space for the whole community
