Bible Engagement in Intercultural Contexts

Redcliffe's MA in Bible and Mission enables students to explore mission in the Bible and the Bible in mission thinking and practice.We are offering the module Bible Engagement in Intercultural Contexts during our Moody Bible Institute Summer School, as part of the Moody in...England programme.

Who is the course for?

This course is for anyone involved in using the Bible in many different contexts, including student or schools ministry, teaching and preaching in the local church and in cross-cultural mission. 

You'll study alongside students from Moody Bible Institute and learn from each other as you discuss issues together, as well as from lectures and reading.

Course content
You will be enabled to explore and evaluate a number of approaches to using the Bible in different cultural contexts. This includes:
  • The Bible as an agent or tool of mission.
  • Issues in Scripture Engagement; for example: contextualisation, Bible translation, orality.
  • Approaches in Scripture Engagement; for example: the use of the arts, Bible storying, digital media.
How do I study?
You’ll attend Redcliffe for three weeks from, 23 June - 11 July.  Lectures will usually take place in the morning, although there will also be occasional all day field trips.

Who is teaching?

The course leader is Tim Davy, Director of Research and Innovation. Staff from Bible Society and Wycliffe Bible Translators are also involved in the teaching.

Cost

Residential: £870 including full board accommodation and day trips
Non-residential:  £450 including lunch and day trips

Centre for the Study of Bible and MissionRedcliffe's specialist Centre for the Study of the Bible and Mission. hosts an Bible and Mission lecture, and a visiting scholar from the Global South. It also aims to develop a bi-annual consultation focusing on the Bible and Mission.
