Mini Study Breaks
Take time out to be refreshed and learn at Redcliffe!
Monday 16 to Friday 27 MayRedcliffe’s mini study breaks are ideal for those wanting to get a taste for studying at Bible College, or take some time out to be refreshed and learn in beautiful surroundings. You will learn more about a variety of themes and become better equipped to grow as a Christian and serve more effectively.
Each of four subjects are taught from lunchtime to lunchtime, either from Monday to Wednesday or Wednesday to Friday, allowing time for travel to and from the college. You will take part in interactive class sessions led by Redcliffe faculty and guided study time to help you consolidate and reflect, and study from three days (one topic) to two weeks (all four topics).
Mini-module dates and subjects:
16 –18 May Apologetics in a hostile world: meeting the challenge of militant atheism
Belief in God has come under attack from an increasingly vocal and aggressive form of atheism, championed by such advocates as Richard Dawkins and Christopher Hitchens. Drawing particularly on philosophy and science, Rob Cook, Head of Theology, will guide you through a number of ways in which Christians can respond both in defending a belief in God and asking critical questions of atheism itself.
18 –20 May Theology for the church: an introduction to loving God with our minds
We are all theologians! We all think about God and practice our Christian faith in the light of this thinking. So what kind of theologian are you? Colin Bulley, Academic Dean, will take you through some of the key doctrines of the church and challenge you with the ‘So what?’ question: how does what we think about God impact how we relate to God and how we do church?
23 –25 May Bible and Mission: thinking through the Bible missionally and mission biblically
Mission is more than just one theme among many that the Bible talks about – it is what the Bible is all about! Explore the missional nature of the Bible and the biblical foundations for mission in your own local situation and around the world. Put on in association with Biblefresh and led by Tim Davy, Lecturer in Biblical Studies and Mission, and Director of Redcliffe's Centre for the Study of Bible and Mission.
25 –27 May Spiritual Formation: growing deeper in God
How can we nurture our relationship with God and increase the variety of ways we relate to him? Drawing upon a wealth of Christian traditions and experience, and led by Mags Duggan, Lecturer in Spirituality and Mission, you will explore the nature of Spiritual Formation and a range of practices to help foster spiritual depth and growth.
