Through placements, students learn more about themselves and find they are challenged and stretched – leading to a deeper relationship with God as they rely on him more and experience the power of prayer in their lives. Placements are also a great opportunity for them to explore God’s future calling on their lives.
Ruth Bull, Placement Director
Mission placements are an intergral part of our undergraduate courses. CertHE, DipHE and BA(hons) students do a weekly placement in the local community and a six-week term placement each year, allowing you to experience a variety of ministries and locations during your time at Redcliffe. Professionals in Mission students have a weekly placement in the community.
Locally...
Redcliffe’s location in a multi-ethnic city means that cross-cultural interaction is possible on our doorstep and weekly placements enable you to have a ministry in the local community. This could be helping at a local youth group, becoming a Gloucester Street Pastor, assisting in a local (Polish) school. ministering to the homeless or outreach to international students in Cheltenham.
Worldwide...
Our
Certificate, Diploma and BA(Hons) in Applied Theology in Intercultural Contexts courses enable you to experience the world beyond Gloucester in your annual 6 week placement. This can be in the UK or anywhere in the world and in any type of Christian ministry. Drawing on our links with over 50 agencies, you can find the right assignment that will develop your particular gifts and interests. You will take part in both orientation and debriefing sessions which help prepare you for your placement and assist you in reflecting on your experiences.
