MA in Sport and Christian Outreach

these two programmes offer students a unique opportunity to understand, critique and develop practice in the realm of sport and spiritual development within ministry and chaplaincy contextsIn response to the growing need for academic and professional accreditation inside the majority of elite sports settings, these two programmes offer students a unique opportunity to understand, critique and develop practice in the realm of sport and spiritual development within ministry and chaplaincy contexts.

Led by a specialist team of University staff in association with colleagues from Redcliffe College, these courses are supported by a range of organisations, including: Christians in Sport, Ambassadors in Sport, Youth for Christ, and SCORE (the UK’s leading sports chaplaincy agency).

Drawing upon key aspects of applied theology, sports studies, and community development, curriculum content is specifically designed to provide potential sports ministry and chaplaincy workers with an academic and professional grounding in this expanding field whilst considering how Christian organisations can connect with the wider sporting world.

To accommodate the specific needs of those who work full-time in their respective roles, the core modules of these awards are delivered via intensive 4-5 day blocks over the course of the academic year. If you are a graduate from a related discipline, or have a particular interest in the relationship between sport and faith, you are strongly encouraged to apply.
