Youth Ministry Course - day one: All together now… Young people and the spirituality of church life
Saturday 6 February 2010
9.30am (for registration) – 4pm
Spirituality may not be the first word that springs to mind when somebody mentions youth ministry, but how can the two be brought together within Church life for a generation that is spiritually seeking? The first of three Saturdays aimed at equipping youth workers and volunteers in churches will deal with this topic.
Sessions include:
How can we get young people engaged with prayer? Joe Knight has been involved with the 24/7 Prayer movement for a number of years and has helped set up a number of prayer rooms in the Gloucestershire area. He will be sharing from his experiences and looking at the ins and outs of youth spirituality.
Is Spirituality just about having a good prayer life? This does not appear to be the message of the Bible. Emma Worrall from Open Doors UK will be looking at how we can engage young people with justice. How does our spirituality affect the way we interact with injustice in the world such as the persecuted church?
What part can young people play in church life? With a growing number of 'youth churches' around is there any point in trying to get young people involved in the life of the church? We are going to look at the pros and cons of youth aimed church and examine how young people may be integrated into the wider church community.
In addition to seminars, the day will provide plenty of opportunity for networking and finding out about resources.
Cost: £18 per day or £50 for all three days. This will include a buffet lunch and refreshments. Please book by Tuesday 2 Feb.
